BYOD can be such a powerful instructional piece, but it does pose some new challenges. By using choice boards and rubrics, you can eliminate some of those challenges. When students can choose how to share their knowledge and learning, they can use the tools they have available to them. The process of choosing requires higher level thinking and increases engagement.

Trisha Connor is a STEM specialist at Harbins Elementary School in Gwinnett County, GA. She has over 16 years of experience as a classroom teacher, gifted educator and parent instructional support coordinator. Dr. Kishina Woolfolk is an eCLASS Instructional Specialist for Gwinnett County Public Schools. She has over 20 years in the classroom and has taught 5th grade, served as a technology teacher and technology coach and provided ESOL instruction. Both presenters have been heavily involved in BYOD piloting, conducting technology staff developments, writing online curriculum modules in digital format and guiding other schools in BYOD implementation.
